Summary
Apple shipped 24.4% more iPhones in China in Q2 2026, lifting its market share to 18.1% and making it the fastest-growing major brand in a market that contracted for a fifth straight quarter.
IDC said Apple and Huawei outperformed because they held prices steady and used targeted promotions while most Android rivals raised prices as memory and component costs climbed.
Huawei also grew 19.4% to lead the market with a 22.6% share, while Xiaomi posted the sharpest drop among major brands, with shipments down 21.7%.
China smartphone shipments fell 4.3% to about 66 million units, and June's 618 shopping festival was especially weak, with sales down nearly 15% from a year earlier.
IDC expects pressure to intensify in the second half, with China's decline potentially widening to about 20% as cheap component inventories run out; it sees recovery only around 2028 or 2029.
