Summary
June 30 marked the Politburo’s approval of the CCDI report on former Xinjiang party chief Ma Xingrui, state media said Tuesday, escalating the case opened against him in April.
Ma, 67, was accused of “rampant corruption,” involving family members, and of betraying party principles, losing his political convictions and seriously violating political discipline.
The case makes Ma the third Politburo member investigated in the current party term that began in 2022—an unusually high tally not seen in decades.
Before leading Xinjiang, Ma built a career through China’s carrier rocket program, the industry ministry, Guangdong and Shenzhen, underscoring the senior rank of the official caught in the anti-graft drive.
