Summary
More than 5,000 fans entered MLB All-Star Village in its first hour Saturday after the four-day event opened at 10 a.m. at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
The attraction is a centerpiece of All-Star Week, with this year's setup themed around Philadelphia neighborhoods and built to give families and younger fans hands-on baseball activities.
Interactive features include a virtual reality home run derby, a mock All-Star clubhouse, Phillies locker displays, batting practice and photo spots such as the Home Run Derby chain and a giant baseball.
The indoor fan festival runs through Tuesday, with organizers saying Philadelphia's recent 250th-anniversary celebrations have added hometown pride and patriotic energy to the event.
