Snaresbrook Crown Court heard Adeel Khan, 32, and Imran Chowdhury, 26, deny helping Daniel Khalife flee HMP Wandsworth after he strapped himself under a delivery truck in September 2023.
Prosecutors said Khan acted as an in-prison planner while Chowdhury served as the outside contact, supplying money after Khalife escaped and had little beyond what he carried from the lorry.
A red diary found on Khalife after his arrest allegedly linked Khan to the plot, containing his name, an illegal prison phone number, mobile number and Snapchat account.
£200 found on Khalife was alleged to come from a £400 cash withdrawal Chowdhury made in Richmond on the day of the escape; the court heard Chowdhury was paid £120 and later met Khalife on CCTV.
Khalife was recaptured on a canal towpath after a nationwide manhunt and was later jailed for 14 years and three months for spying for Iran; the two defendants' trial continues.
