Zahara Jolie-Pitt Completes 4-Week Name-Change Notice, Moving to Drop Pitt

Four newspaper notices published between June 16 and July 7 satisfied California’s requirement for Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt’s petition to remove “Pitt” from her surname.
A judge can approve the request at a Sept. 28 hearing if no public objections are filed, marking the final procedural step after Zahara began the process in June.
Zahara had already been using Jolie publicly, introducing herself that way at a 2024 Spelman College sorority event and being announced as Zahara Marley Jolie at her May 17 graduation.
She is not the first sibling to drop Pitt: Shiloh won court approval in 2024, and Maddox filed in April, extending a family pattern that followed Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s long divorce battle settled in January 2025.
