May retail sales volume in Türkiye rose 13.7% from a year earlier and 2.4% from April, extending consumer spending strength.
Non-food purchases excluding automotive fuel led the gain with a 17.5% annual increase, driven by a 23.5% jump in computers, books and telecom equipment and a 17.6% rise in clothing and footwear.
Internet and mail-order sales climbed 16.2%, while food, drinks and tobacco sales rose 9.1% and automotive fuel sales increased 3.2%, showing broader but uneven demand.
Overall trade sales volume still fell 1.4% year on year because wholesale trade dropped 7.8%, even as total trade sales edged up 0.7% month on month.
