$200 million in new investment went into a lithium mining and processing plant commissioned in Boko Village, Zurmi LGA, with Governor Dauda Lawal casting it as a step toward industrialisation and employment.
Lawal said Zamfara must move beyond exporting raw minerals, arguing local processing is essential to capture more value from lithium used in electric vehicles, renewable energy and modern technology.
The facility is backed by ZAM Mining Company, Bima Mines, Jinlide Mining and other partners, and is expected to support skills development, industrial growth and a bigger role for Zamfara in Nigeria’s critical minerals industry.
Lawal said the state will support investors with security, infrastructure and pro-mining policies, while directing operators to prioritise local hiring, environmental protection, community development and regulatory compliance.
