19,900 nonresidential construction jobs were added in June, outpacing the broader construction sector’s 11,000-job monthly gain and leading industry hiring.
14,100 of those new jobs came from nonresidential specialty trade contractors, while nonresidential building added 3,200 and heavy and civil engineering added 2,600.
4.7% was the construction unemployment rate in June, as ABC said better labor availability than in recent years is helping contractors keep hiring and easing some wage pressure.
ABC’s Construction Confidence Index still points to further workforce expansion, signaling sustained demand across commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects.
