Josh Grisetti, a Broadway and off-Broadway performer who also led Cal State Fullerton’s BFA musical theatre program, died Friday at 44.
Friends Rob McClure and Sierra Boggess said in social media posts that Grisetti took his own life on the morning of July 10.
Grisetti broke out in York Theatre Company’s 2008 Enter Laughing, earning a Theatre World Award and multiple major nominations before making his Broadway debut in 2015’s It Shoulda Been You.
Recent years shifted his focus toward teaching after a stage career that included Something Rotten!, Peter and the Starcatcher and Rent; he had also recently stepped away from directing Legally Blonde at the Trentino Music Festival for personal reasons.
