Summary
340 flights were delayed and 18 canceled at Boston Logan by 5 p.m. Saturday as the Parade of Sail disrupted normal landing operations.
Massport said some ships' masts pass beneath approach paths for certain runways, forcing air traffic control to use a different landing configuration that handles fewer planes per hour.
The parade began at 9 a.m., passed Castle Island around 10 a.m. and was expected to run until about 3 p.m., though officials said it was unclear how long flight impacts would last.
More than 60 ships from about 20 countries are in Boston for the five-day Sail Boston 2026 event, led by the U.S.S. Constitution.
Massport also disclosed a fuel supply system issue outside the airport, but said Logan remained fully operational and asked incoming planes to carry extra fuel to ease pressure.
