OpenAI led the 72-hour burst with GPT-Live, the GPT-5.6 family—flagship Sol, everyday Terra and cheaper Luna—plus Codex in ChatGPT desktop and a workplace agent called ChatGPT Work.
Meta pushed deeper into enterprise AI with Muse Image and paid model Muse Spark 1.1, though Muse Image drew backlash after public Instagram accounts were opted in by default.
SpaceXAI released Grok 4.5—its first model since buying Cursor—while Anthropic added a Reflect feature that summarizes users’ Claude habits and usage patterns.
Two OpenAI executive departures also landed during the spree: its chief futurist left after nine years, and applications CEO Fidji Simo stepped down after medical leave.
The wave underscored that the AI race is accelerating rather than slowing for summer, with Perplexity also developing a coding tool called Teammate to challenge OpenAI and Anthropic.
