Chicago Tops Orkin's 2026 Bed Bug List for 5th Straight Year

Chicago again ranked No. 1 on Orkin’s 2026 Bed Bug Cities List, marking the fifth consecutive year it led U.S. metro areas for bedbug treatments.
Orkin based the ranking on residential and commercial treatment data from May 2025 to May 12, 2026, reflecting where it performed the most extermination work.
Los Angeles, Detroit, Cleveland and Indianapolis rounded out the top five, while Nashville and Oklahoma City each climbed 10 spots and Tampa and Myrtle Beach saw increased activity.
Experts cautioned the rankings do not mean bedbugs are only an urban problem, noting infestations can also be hard to control in suburban and rural areas with fewer pest services.
With summer travel picking up, Orkin and entomologists advised checking mattress seams, upholstered furniture and shoes to spot bedbugs before they hitchhike home.
