AU$3.05 million in Barossa Aboriginal Future Fund backing will finance Santos' three-year Saltwater Pathways pilot, supporting up to 13 Aboriginal trainees from five Northern Territory coastal regions.
The program pairs Certificate III or IV qualifications with hands-on work tied to Santos' multibillion-dollar Barossa gas project, aiming to turn training into direct jobs.
Programmed Skilled Workforce will deliver the initiative with support from Darwin LNG, BW Offshore, Qube and Compass Group, creating employment pipelines into energy and resources roles after graduation.
The launch coincides with Santos' updated 2030 Indigenous Participation Plan; Indigenous employees already make up 8% of its Top End workforce.
