Vanilla Ice said on Sean Hannity’s show that he does not vote because a Hawaii time-management course convinced him the process wastes time better spent elsewhere.
The 58-year-old rapper said the class argued people are not paid to research candidates, drive to polling places or stand in line, and that those hours add up over a lifetime.
He recalled the instructor telling attendees they had effectively lost nine years, prompting classmates to say they would rather spend that time with family or relaxing on a beach.
Rob Van Winkle, who said his opinion “means nothing” because he is “just Vanilla Ice,” added that he avoids politics partly because he does not take such debates seriously.
The remarks add context to his recent defense of performing at the Freedom 250 concert, which drew criticism as political before it was canceled because of weather.
