Summary
China’s nationwide electricity load reached 1.518 billion kilowatts on July 10, the first record high this year and above the previous 1.508 billion-kilowatt peak set on July 17, 2025.
More than 150 million kilowatts of load has been added since the start of July, the National Energy Administration said, driven by rising demand from data centers and electric vehicles.
The regulator said that increase is roughly equivalent to Japan’s total power load, underscoring how quickly summer demand has accelerated.
Province-specific supply plans are now being activated to secure electricity in both normal operations and emergency scenarios as peak-season pressure builds.
