If you cancel service, switch plans, or pay off the phone early, you can lose the remaining credits. That creates a practical two-year commitment even without a traditional service contract. The real test is the total cost. Customers still typically pay sales tax on the full retail price, plus activation or connection fees and monthly taxes and surcharges. The added line itself is the biggest cost. A “free” $900 phone can be outweighed by hundreds or even more than $1,000 in service charges over 24 months if the line was not needed anyway. The richest offers require adding a new line on qualifying Experience Beyond, Go5G, Experience or Essentials plans, with the S26 Ultra deal saving more than $1,000 off Samsung’s flagship model.
The carrier is also offering a free Galaxy S26+ on select premium plans with a qualifying new line or eligible trade-in, and some customers can claim up to four standard S26 phones.
The limited-time promotion has no announced end date, but customers who cancel service or pay off devices early can lose the remaining bill-credit discounts.
