Summary
A Reynolds County campground building collapsed into floodwaters Friday afternoon, and rescuers were searching for 10 to 17 people believed to have been swept into the water.
More than 90 residents, campers and motorists had already been rescued by 2:30 p.m. as rapidly rising water overwhelmed parts of the county.
Overnight storms dumped 5 to 9 inches of rain across Iron and Reynolds counties, prompting a National Weather Service flash flood emergency and warnings of another 1 to 3 inches.
The flooding also crippled rescue and transport efforts: two rescue boats capsized without serious injuries, roads closed under 4 to 5 feet of water, and Missouri reported highway collapses.
