Summary
Grant was arrested July 2 in Grayson County and charged with interfering with communications, theft by unlawful taking of more than $10,000, and first-degree criminal mischief.
Investigators said he was linked to stealing, transporting, stripping and selling Kinetic communications wire as scrap copper after reports of cut, damaged and removed lines across the county.
Kinetic said the thefts over the last two to three weeks knocked out numerous locations, including two cell towers, disrupting internet service for more than 500 customers and threatening 911, police, fire and healthcare communications.
The sheriff’s office said it is still working with Kinetic, scrap yards and other law enforcement agencies, and expects additional suspects to be charged.
