Yes — but only if the NFL chooses not to place him on the Commissioner’s Exempt List. The court has already cleared the main legal obstacle. A Florida judge denied prosecutors’ request for an ankle monitor and allowed Terrion Arnold to leave home for NFL-related activities if he signs with a team. That means, from the court’s side, he can work out, meet clubs and potentially play while awaiting trial. The bigger decision belongs to the league. Under the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy, the NFL does not need to wait for a conviction or even for a trial to begin. It can investigate on its own and place a player on the Commissioner’s Exempt List in serious cases. A player on that list is paid but cannot practice or play. So far, the NFL has not announced such a move in Arnold’s case. His agent has said teams including the Texans, Jets, Colts and Seahawks have shown interest, and she believes the denial of the ankle monitor makes a signing more realistic. Judge Christopher C. Sabella has also explicitly allowed Arnold to pursue an NFL career during the case. That leaves Arnold in a narrow window: legally available to sign and participate, but still vulnerable to league action at any time. If the NFL holds off on exempt-list placement, he could take the field before trial. If the league intervenes, he cannot. As of now, the league has not made that call publicly.
