Summary
Fandom eliminated GameSpot’s entire commerce operation on Thursday, cutting four staffers and five freelancers who handled deals posts, buying guides and preorder coverage.
Chris Grant, Fandom’s vice president of games and entertainment since September 2025, was also laid off; he had overseen GameSpot along with Metacritic, GameFAQs and TV Guide.
Affected employees disclosed the cuts publicly, including deals editor Brendan Hesse, who said he was laid off while on paid medical leave after a gunshot injury, and commerce editor Colette Bennett.
GameSpot editor Mark Delaney said the site has now endured five layoff rounds since Fandom bought it from Red Ventures in October 2022, extending pressure across the publisher’s games media portfolio.
