Summary
McLaren positioned the 788HS as the final sendoff for the 720S, 765LT and 750S line, limiting production to 100 Coupe and 100 Spider models.
A twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 delivers 777 hp and 590 lb-ft, pushing the car to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds and on to a 205 mph top speed.
The new model adds 10% more downforce than the 765LT through a revised aero package with an F1-derived rear diffuser, new splitter, raised active spoiler and hood S-duct.
The 1,265-kg Coupe posts the series' best power-to-weight ratio at 614 hp per metric ton, while buyers can also specify a full carbon-fiber body and MSO customization.
The 788HS is only McLaren's third High Sport model and closes out the current supercar family as the company prepares to outline its next products later this summer.
