Summary
17,296 cars sold in the second quarter marked a 4% drop from 18,026 a year earlier, sending Polestar shares down more than 3%.
The slide comes weeks after Washington denied Polestar authorization under the Connected Vehicles Rule, effectively forcing the EV maker out of the U.S. from the 2027 model year because of Chinese links.
CEO Michael Lohscheller said the company will follow the U.S. decision, keep selling existing Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 inventory there, maintain service access and continue second-hand sales.
Europe now anchors the strategy, accounting for 80% of first-half sales, as Polestar refreshes older models instead of launching entirely new ones amid uncertain global EV demand.
