Samsung said LTE versions of Galaxy Watch8, Watch8 Classic and Watch Ultra can handle calls, texts, navigation and Samsung Wallet payments without a nearby phone.
Those models also stream music and podcasts, access Gemini for voice help and connect to Galaxy Buds, extending the watch beyond basic fitness tracking.
Samsung pitched the phone-free setup for runs, errands, home tasks and workdays, including SmartThings controls, reminders and finding a misplaced phone.
The update positions LTE connectivity as a key selling point in Galaxy Watch’s broader role as a wrist-based hub for communication, health and AI assistance.
