Summary
Ferris Fire in southwest Colorado has burned more than 51,000 acres and is 22% contained, with evacuation orders still covering areas east of County Road 15 to the canyon rim.
Improved weather ended nine straight days of red-flag conditions, but crews warned forecast wetting rain could also bring more lightning to the blaze, which was sparked by lightning.
A Complex Incident Management Team has taken over Ferris operations, adding regional crews as small communities across Montezuma, Dolores and San Miguel counties send engines and support.
McCauley Springs Fire on the Santa Fe National Forest is now 88% contained, down to 50 personnel from 500 at its peak, with no structures lost and suppression repair underway.
Elsewhere, Albuquerque's Alcalde Fire reached 50% containment, while New Mexico's lightning-caused Sacaton Fire burned more than 9,300 acres and remained under mandatory evacuation orders near Willow Creek.
