Q: Has Xiaomi's push for a 10,100mAh battery made its new phone too bulky for the average user's pocket?

Not necessarily — but there is not enough confirmed data yet to say Xiaomi has made the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max too bulky for the average pocket. The leak points to a very large 10,100mAh battery in the Pro Max, which is far above the 5,000mAh class used by many mainstream phones and even above newer “big battery” rivals. On paper, that usually raises concerns about thickness and weight, especially in a phone that also reportedly carries a 6.83-inch display and a 200MP camera. What is missing is the key evidence: Xiaomi’s actual dimensions and weight. Without those figures, any claim that the phone is too bulky remains speculative. That matters because newer silicon-carbon battery technology is allowing Chinese brands to fit much larger batteries without a proportional jump in thickness. Recent market examples show that battery growth no longer automatically means a rugged-phone form factor. Still, average users may see a trade-off. Devices above roughly 7,500mAh are often viewed as niche products aimed at people who prioritize multi-day endurance over comfort, one-handed use, and pocketability. A 10,100mAh battery could push the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max closer to that edge unless Xiaomi has made major gains in packaging efficiency. So the best answer for now is that Xiaomi’s battery push may make the phone less pocket-friendly than a typical mid-range handset, but there is no solid proof yet that it has crossed into “too bulky” territory.

GizChina Greece published what it called the first official Redmi Note 17 poster, showing Xiaomi shifting the rear camera module to the upper-left in another design overhaul for the series.
Three models are tipped: the base Note 17 with a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, 50MP camera and 67W charging; the Note 17 Pro with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and 9,000mAh battery; and the Pro Max with a Dimensity 7500.
The Pro and Pro Max are expected to share a 6.83-inch flat OLED display with 1.5K resolution, while the Pro Max stands out with a 200MP main camera and a 10,100mAh battery.
Xiaomi is also said to be skipping the Note 16 name, mirroring its flagship branding, as it targets the mid-range market with more aggressive hardware.
July or August is the reported launch window for the Note 17 lineup, though Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the specifications or release timing.
