Dan Dakich blasted Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark after Yormark told Texas Tech media personality Sean Dillon to “stand up” and ask his question again at media day.
The flare-up came after Dillon asked a long question touching on Texas Tech’s 35-year tortilla-tossing tradition, Oklahoma State’s paddle tradition and the league’s treatment of player-related issues.
Yormark responded, “Stand up. Ask that question again, and I’m going to give you the answer I want to give you,” a line Dakich called “absolutely disgusting” on his Wednesday show.
The criticism stood out because Dakich said he was siding with a credentialed member of the media despite rarely defending sportswriters, turning the exchange into a broader complaint about athletic administrators’ conduct.
