Summary
An expanded class action filed Tuesday says X and xAI enabled Grok to generate child sex abuse images and then hindered efforts to identify the user behind them.
The amended complaint centers on a case in which a girl's stepfather allegedly used one photo taken when she was 11 to create about 7,000 explicit AI images and videos depicting rape and incest.
A CyberTip was allegedly triggered only after a prompt mentioning “gang rape,” and the suit says Grok failed to flag earlier harmful requests despite producing extreme content.
xAI also allegedly refused for weeks to provide data such as the user's IP address to NCMEC or police, forcing investigators to rely on a warrant and device seizure before arresting the man.
The lawsuit broadens claims beyond AI “nudify” tools to argue that weak safeguards and poor cooperation with mandatory CSAM reporting can shield predators and worsen harm.
