Summary
FBI testing found Tyler Robinson’s DNA and his roommate’s on a screwdriver recovered from the rooftop where prosecutors say the fatal shot was fired, Utah investigators testified at a five-day preliminary hearing.
The same two DNA profiles were also found on a towel wrapped around the rifle authorities say was used in Charlie Kirk’s killing; Robinson’s roommate has not been accused in the case.
Video shown this week allegedly depicts Robinson entering Utah Valley University’s campus on the day of the September shooting and climbing onto the roof, while prosecutors also cited a note saying he had “enough of [Kirk’s] hatred.”
Defense lawyers for the 23-year-old, who has not entered a plea, attacked the reliability of the FBI’s DNA work and challenged efforts to frame the killing around hostility to Kirk’s politics and religion.
The hearing will determine whether Robinson, charged with aggravated murder and facing a possible death sentence, is ordered to stand trial.
