A D.C. appeals panel for the second time refused to quickly undo the order stripping Donald Trump’s name from the Kennedy Center, leaving the facade unchanged while his broader appeal proceeds.
The three judges said Trump and the center offered no specific facts showing fundraising damage and raised too late a claim that donations might have to be returned.
No judge dissented, including Trump appointee Gregory Katsas, and the panel noted the name had already been removed last month under District Judge Casey Cooper’s May 29 order.
Scaffolding and a tarp still cover the exterior signage weeks later, and Cooper has ordered the Kennedy Center to explain why the covering remains.
Programming plans are still moving ahead: the center has added July music events at Millennium Stage, with broader lineup discussions expected at a board meeting as soon as next week.
