It also uses Italian lead actors and is being produced in Italy, addressing one of the cultural complaints raised about the Hollywood film. Whether it truly “corrects” the record will depend on execution. A memoir-based drama can still be selective, emotional and subjective, especially when the family itself remains central to the narrative. But compared with the Hollywood version, it is positioned to offer a more intimate, more Italian and potentially more fact-conscious account of the murder and the dynasty’s implosion. The series is currently shooting and is expected to air in 2027.
