Delta on Wednesday rolled out three stripped-down premium tickets—Delta First Basic, Premium Select Basic and Basic Business—extending its basic-fare model into first class, premium economy and Delta One.
Basic Business passengers will lose Delta One Lounge access and advance suite selection, while buyers across the new fares face less flexibility, cancellation fees and lower SkyMiles earnings in exchange for lower prices.
Delta said the fares target price-sensitive travelers and create a cheaper entry point into premium cabins without changing its higher-tier Classic or Extra products.
The move follows about 2 years of signaling from Delta, comes after basic Comfort fares launched last fall, and mirrors United's spring rollout of basic Polaris business and Premium Plus tickets.
