Not yet, and not automatically. The £5 million gift and the alleged undeclared support have already pushed Nigel Farage to resign and fight a fresh Clacton by-election, but whether they ultimately force him out of Parliament depends on the standards investigation and then on voters. The immediate trigger for his departure was political, not a formal finding. Farage resigned his seat himself while under investigation by the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner over whether he failed to declare a £5 million gift from donor Christopher Harborne and other support allegedly provided by George Cottrell. Farage says the Harborne money was a personal, unconditional gift for security and that no rules were broken; his allies say the support in question pre-dated his election and was not registrable. The real risk to his parliamentary future comes later. If the commissioner finds a serious breach, the case could go to the Commons Standards Committee. If MPs then suspend him for more than 10 sitting days, that would trigger a recall petition in Clacton. If 10% of local voters sign it, a second by-election would follow. That is why Rupert Lowe says Restore Britain will skip the coming contest but prepare for a possible second one later this year. Even then, Farage would not automatically be finished. A recall petition could fail, or he could win any resulting by-election. So the allegations may yet threaten his seat, but they do not by themselves force him out of Parliament.
