Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission ordered a swift review of Supaporn Pimphong’s claimed 7.1% holding in True Corp., a stake valued at nearly $1 billion.
The probe was triggered by the sudden appearance of Pimphong as an individual shareholder large enough to rank among the Bangkok-based telecom company’s biggest owners.
The SEC said it will seek additional information and clarification from relevant parties under applicable procedures, signaling scrutiny of how the common and preferred shares were accumulated.
