Numbered cards are no longer sold as traditional pay-per-views in the U.S. and Latin America; they are included in a subscription that starts at $8.99 a month. That shift has already produced scale PPV rarely matched: Paramount+ says UFC programming has reached more than 10 million households, generated over 100 million hours watched, and delivered audiences roughly 15 times the average recent PPV. In that sense, McGregor vs. Holloway is less the start than the clearest proof point yet of a billion-dollar strategy built on reach, subscriptions and mainstream distribution. For McGregor, though, the stakes are unusually personal. He is 37, has not fought since July 2021, is coming off a severe leg injury, an anti-doping suspension, and enters as the biggest betting underdog of his UFC career. He is also 1-3 in his past four fights, with no win since 2020. Against that, he insists he is fully healed, mentally reset and still chasing titles and major fights. So this is not definitively McGregor’s last stand. But if he loses badly to a more active Holloway, it will be hard to sell another elite comeback. If he wins, he instantly becomes the face of the UFC’s new streaming age.
