Summary
Valve pushed a Steam Deck Client update to the Stable channel, adding Steam Machine compatibility improvements and several changes to display-resolution handling.
The update now flags when the “Maximum Game Resolution” setting forces a game to launch below a display’s native resolution, making the cause of softer image quality visible on the launch screen.
Valve also moved that setting from Display > Advanced into the main Display menu and now generates resolution choices based on the current screen’s aspect ratio.
Non-standard displays get extra choices under “More options,” while the resolution dropdown disappears entirely when every available option already matches the panel’s native resolution.
The client update builds on SteamOS 3.8, released last month, which expanded compatibility across a wider range of devices.
