Golden Gate Bridge Fireworks Vanish in Fog During 15-Minute 250th Birthday Show

Summary
San Francisco’s rare July 4 display from the Golden Gate Bridge towers—only the third in the landmark’s 90-year history—was largely hidden as marine fog swallowed much of the bridge.
Visibility split sharply by location: eastern views over the bay caught bursts of color, while the Presidio and other western vantage points saw little more than flashes through haze.
Crowds had staked out Crissy Field, Marina Green, the Presidio and Marin Headlands hours early, but the show itself lasted just 15 minutes.
Hours after the finale, traffic out of the city remained snarled by heavy visitor volumes, while neighborhood fireworks in the Mission, Bernal Heights and Ocean Beach continued late into the night.
