HIV specialist Casper Rokx said the drugs appear to curb chronic inflammatory responses in patients with HIV—an area with essentially no effective treatments so far and potentially major implications if confirmed.
Evidence remains early and often indirect or based on small studies, prompting calls for controlled trials, including in non-obese patients, before broader use.
Doctors also warned against unsupervised use, saying any expansion into new conditions should happen under proper medical supervision.
