Boulder County Imposes Stage 2 Fire Curbs in West, Stage 1 in East as Danger Rises
2 articles · Updated · Boulder County (.gov) · Jun 30
Summary
Noon Tuesday, Boulder County put Stage 2 fire restrictions on western unincorporated mountain areas and Stage 1 restrictions on eastern unincorporated plains areas.
Hot, dry weather, drought and elevated fire danger drove the move, while firefighting capacity is also strained by multiple active wildfires across Colorado.
Stage 2 bans campfires, charcoal grills, fireworks, recreational shooting, smoking outside enclosed spaces, chainsaw use and off-road driving where vegetation could touch a vehicle; some gas-fueled devices and permitted activities are exempt.
The order applies only to unincorporated Boulder County, stays in place until fire danger eases, and carries civil fines of $500 for a first offense, $750 for a second and $1,000 thereafter.
