Giménez Urges White House to Spare 350,000 Haitians' TPS as Supreme Court Clears Rollback

Summary
Carlos Giménez on Sunday urged the White House to reconsider ending temporary protected status for about 350,000 Haitians, calling deportations to a "failed state" a huge mistake.
The appeal follows a Supreme Court ruling allowing the Trump administration to cut TPS protections, though Homeland Security said last week Haitian beneficiaries keep status and work authorization until lower courts align with that decision.
Giménez also asked for Venezuelans' TPS to be restored after twin earthquakes on June 24, arguing the program should protect people fleeing failed states or countries unable to receive them safely.
Republican pressure is widening: Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and New York Representative Mike Lawler have also warned ending Haitian TPS would hurt U.S. communities, from manufacturing to healthcare.
In April, Giménez backed a House bill extending Haiti's TPS designation through 2029; it passed 224-204 and now awaits Senate consideration.
