Her remarks came after months of visible problems with the renovation, including algae, murky green water and paint now chipping from the pool.
Trump administration officials had described the water as “crystal clear,” while Trump later blamed vandals for a 250-foot gash and said arrests had been made.
Washington Post reporters at the site said they found no evidence of such damage, adding to scrutiny over Trump’s shifting explanations and the project’s rising cost.
