Google still has not shipped three features it publicly previewed: a floating bottom bar in Google Photos, a pill-shaped Gboard key redesign, and Gemini Live support for sending messages through Google Messages.
Google Photos showed the floating toolbar on iOS in February and in several Android demos, but Android still uses the older tall Material 3-style bottom bar despite most first-party apps already moving on.
Gboard began testing pill-shaped keys in March 2025, and Google has since used the design in official screenshots, yet the keyboard update never arrived even around Android 16 QPR1 and Material 3 Expressive last August.
Gemini Live previewed Google Messages support at Made by Google 2024, and although Live expanded to more Connected Apps in May, Messages remains absent—leaving it short of the main Gemini chat experience.
