Atlus is also adding a guard action during dungeon exploration, allowing players to defend against enemy contact, potentially stun foes, and either gain an advantage or avoid a fight. Combat is being further expanded with a knockback-style mechanic that can spread status ailments between enemies, and a new “Prime Time” system. That meter builds as the party deals damage; once triggered, it grants several free turns in which skills cost no SP and attacks ignore resistances, ending with a high-damage cinematic finisher. Outside battle, Atlus has said dungeon layouts are being reworked for better playability and smoother exploration rather than simply being visually upgraded. The daily-life side is also being expanded with new events and fully voiced Social Link scenes, bringing it closer to the presentation standards of newer Persona entries. More broadly, the remake is expected to include the kind of quality-of-life updates seen in recent Atlus RPGs, including a revised interface, faster battle flow, and what the developers have described as more comfortable, “stress-free” gameplay.
