Jesse Eisenberg said he turned down Aaron Sorkin’s Social Network follow-up because he no longer wants to be associated with Mark Zuckerberg, joking that refusing the director felt like “letting down America.”
Three days of talks with Sorkin did not change his mind; Eisenberg said he is moving in different directions and stressed his decision was not a judgment on the film itself.
Aaron Sorkin had already said Eisenberg did not want to be conflated with Zuckerberg anymore, citing airport encounters where fans asked him to sign “I’m CEO, b**ch” business cards.
The Social Reckoning is set in 2021 and stars Jeremy Strong as Zuckerberg, with Mikey Madison as whistleblower Frances Haugen and Jeremy Allen White as Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz.
