Two people are in custody after Friday’s shooting inside Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn left two victims dead and a third with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said gunfire erupted around 1:25 p.m. after a dispute between two groups escalated inside the mall near Michigan Avenue and Evergreen Road.
Officers found three people shot; one died at the scene and another died after being taken to a Metro Detroit hospital. The victims were in their late teens to early 20s.
Investigators said the violence was an isolated incident, not a random attack, and earlier indicated all three people shot were believed to have been involved in the dispute.
The mall was closed for several hours as detectives interviewed witnesses and reviewed evidence; police have not released the victims’ or detainees’ identities.
