Summary
Julio Rodriguez entered concussion protocol after a thrown ball hit the back of his helmet during Seattle's 1-0 win over the Angels, and manager Dan Wilson said the center fielder will be re-evaluated Friday.
The play came in the first inning when first baseman Nolan Schanuel tried to start a double play; the throw struck Rodriguez as he slid into second, then caromed into the outfield and let him reach third.
Rodriguez stayed in briefly after an on-field check and played one defensive half-inning, but Seattle removed him in the top of the third for Victor Robles.
Seattle then had to reshuffle again in the fifth when Weston Wilson replaced Robles, who had been hit by a pitch in the bottom of the third.
The injury threatens rare durability for Rodriguez, a three-time All-Star who played a career-high 160 games last season and has appeared in 87 of Seattle's 88 games this year.
