A multi-year framework agreement will set up a Quantum Center of Excellence to move quantum and mathematical optimization from pilots into production across Kobe Steel’s materials, machinery and power businesses.
First-year work targets industrial problems that classical computing struggles to solve, starting with materials design, production scheduling and process optimization under complex logistics and engineering constraints.
JIJ will use its open-architecture modeling platform to convert those bottlenecks into algorithms that run across hybrid classical and quantum systems, while also helping train internal specialists and set governance rules.
The initiative supports Kobe Steel’s KOBELCO-X transformation plan, aiming to protect existing industrial margins while opening new business models through next-generation computing.
