The unreleased footage, as described by witnesses and media reports, appears to show Bart Diguglielmo’s final moments as a tense, drawn-out confrontation in which the woman had a gun trained on him before firing a single shot. According to those accounts, the dispute began over a parking space in the Walmart lot. Video from a cellphone, dashcam and Tesla camera reportedly shows Diguglielmo approaching the woman while she held a cellphone in one hand and a handgun in the other. She can be heard telling him to “walk away,” and at one point she appears to back away while keeping the gun pointed at him. The footage reportedly shows the two facing off for roughly 30 seconds. In one angle, Diguglielmo raises his hands. In another, he appears to follow or move back toward the woman after briefly walking away. A single gunshot is then heard, and he collapses, apparently struck in the stomach, with blood visible on his shirt. Reports also indicate Diguglielmo remained conscious for a time after falling, alternately sitting up and lying back down, and continued exchanging words with the woman until deputies arrived. Witnesses said the woman was screaming during the confrontation and stayed at the scene afterward. What the video does not settle on its own is the legal question of self-defense. The woman told investigators she fired in self-defense, and Broward homicide detectives are expected to turn the case over to prosecutors, who will decide whether charges are warranted.
