Summary
Guinea’s appeals court reduced former Prime Minister Ibrahima Kassory Fofana’s sentence from five years to three years and nine months on illicit enrichment and money laundering charges.
Four years in pretrial detention since April 2022 already exceed the revised term, allowing Fofana to remain free after his provisional release four months ago.
The original five-year sentence came from a special financial crimes court created after the September 2021 coup that ousted President Alpha Condé, under whom Fofana served.
