Summary
A 30-year-old Norfolk man has been arrested and released on bail until 18 September on suspicion of attempted murder after a three-year-old boy was injured in a crocodile enclosure at Johnsons of Old Hurst on 18 June.
Police said the man, who is believed to have learning disabilities, did not know the child and was assessed as unfit for interview after the incident at the Cambridgeshire zoo.
The boy was attacked by at least one crocodile while in the enclosure, then rescued by zoo staff within minutes and given first aid with help from visitors including off-duty paramedics and police officers.
Addenbrooke's Hospital is still treating the boy, who police said remains in a stable condition, while his family thanked staff and said their focus is on his recovery.
Johnsons of Old Hurst called the attack one of the most distressing incidents in its history as investigators continue examining how the child entered the enclosure.
