Miami made the Eastern Conference’s biggest offseason splash by acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo from Milwaukee, instantly elevating the Heat into the Knicks’ top tier of challengers.
The deal cost Miami significant young talent and draft capital, including the No. 13 pick, leaving the Heat with a thinner roster around a new Giannis-Bam Adebayo frontcourt.
Miami has since focused on patching depth, re-signing Andrew Wiggins for 3 years and $64 million, bringing back Simone Fontecchio, and adding Tim Hardaway Jr. on a one-year, $6.5 million deal.
Milwaukee took back a rebuild package centered on Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakučionis, unprotected 2031 and 2033 first-rounders, and a 2030 pick swap.
The trade reshapes an East already in flux, with contenders across the conference making aggressive moves after the Knicks’ title run.
